Cut and Polish
Our cars are
being used every single day. It’s either you use it to go to work, to buy
something, to the beach or anywhere. Whenever we go out, we can’t sometimes
avoid having our cars damaged by natural causes or things that can hit your
car. It can have swirl marks, scratches, water spots, or any types of damages.
Good thing
is that we have paint correction or we sometimes call it Cut
and Polish. Cut and Polish is a process that used to address various paint
defects on the car. It essentially involves removing some clear coat in order
to remove the defects (the cut) and then restoring the gloss and shine of the paint
(the polish).
Here are
types of stains that can be usually removed by Cut and Polish:
• Swirl
Marks
-
These are types of marks that are caused by
incorrect washing and drying where dirt particles in the sponge and chamois
leave microscopic scratches in the clear coat.
-
They show up on the surface of the paint’s car
like cobwebs in bright light.
• Entry
Marks
-
These are usually from fingernails, car keys and
rings whenever we open the door of a car.
• Trail
Marks
-
These are caused by vegetation and scrub rubbing
against sides of the vehicle that leaves visible scuffs.
-
These marks range from minor to very deep
scratches/marks.
• Paint
Transfer
-
Usually when we hit another car by accident or
something that has paint on it.
-
Common paint transfers are yellow paint marks
left from bollards or garage door frames.
-
The actual paint transfer can be polished off
with great success, however, there are usually a few deeper scratches that are
left behind. The polishing stage will reduce the appearance of these scratches
but if you can see the undercoat on your car, it’s time for a respray.
• Water
spots
-
Usually, they come from mineral deposits that have
a combination of magnesium and calcium.
-
These minerals are soluble in your town water
and when the water evaporates from the surface the minerals are left behind
causing unsightly water spotting. This type of water spot can be removed with
specific chemicals and light polishing.
These are just some of the damages that a cut and polish can treat. Good thing is that there are lots of car detailing companies who can do it. Here in Brisbane, there are a lot of companies who offer very cheap prices but the quality is not great. But some companies offer reasonable pricing for the best quality that you deserve.
